Obituary for Rev. Charles Grubbs

Rev. Charles Grubbs 79 of Washington went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, August 9, 2017.
Charles was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Frank and Cleo Grubbs (Hart). Charles was wed to Roselyn Grubbs (Oberst) Thanksgiving Day in 1960.
Rev. Grubbs graduated from Cincinnati Bible College with a B.S. in 1964 and received an M.A. in 1987 From C.B.S.
Charles spent 57 years in the ministry and missions with his family by his side. They were at various different states over the years where he pastored churches in Ohio, Kentucky, Georgia, South Carolina, Oklahoma, and most recently Antioch Christian Church of Washington, IN. Rev. Charles Grubbs and his wife began their journey here in 1983 and recently Charles had semi- retired. Since 1990 Charles served as International Director of the North Andhra Coastal Evangelizing Association. From 1983-1995 he served on the Board of Directors for Open Arms Ministries. This led to him becoming part of the staff as Director of Development in the fall of 1995. He has also been involved in public relations, development, fund raising and human relations. When speaking about his vision for the church and for his life Charles would often use the symbol of a giraffe, referring to “vision” as being able to see beyond the things immediately around you.
Charles was a life-long learner and teacher. He greatly enjoyed home-schooling his grandchildren and had just recently ordered a curriculum to begin studies with his granddaughter. Charles also enjoyed gardening, playing chess, and fellowship with his family.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Roselyn Grubbs of Washington; children, Mark Grubbs (Julia), of Austin, Texas, JoEllyn Swelbar (Scott) of Hamilton, OH, and Stuart Grubbs (Lindsey) of Washington, IN; grandchildren, Caleb, Jacob and Zach Swelbar, and Traver, Dylan, Kayl, Aubrey, Coby, and Hadley Rose Grubbs; sisters, Ellen Boyer, Paula Turner, and Patricia McKellar.
Friends and Family may call Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Antioch Christian Church located at 3007 US 50 Washington, IN 47501. A Celebration of Life will follow on Monday at 1:00 P.M. also at the church. The family will be receiving friends an hour prior to starting the Celebration Service. Rev. Grubbs will be laid to rest at Antioch Cemetery in Washington, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the NACEA P.O. Box 2309 Washington, IN 47501.
