Obituary for Michael D. Thurston

Michael D.   Thurston
Michael D. Thurston, 64, of Washington, went to his Heavenly Home on September 18, 2016. He was born in Berlin Germany to Donald J. and Edith E. (Sablik) Thurston. He was a graduate of Washington Catholic in 1970. He was married to the love of his life, Judith E. (Sievers) Thurston for over 35 years. Michael was a member of the Air Force. He was also an Electronic Technician at Crane, and his family owned and operated the White Steamer. He was the founder of the Daviess County Slow Spokes and Hoosier Heights Indoor Rock Climbing Gym. He was also a member of the American Alpine Association. He loved cycling, rock climbing, mountain biking, yoga, mountaineering, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had a great passion and zest for life and enjoyed teaching others.

He is survived by his wife, Judy (Sievers) Thurston; children Josh Thurston (Erin), Jeremy Thurston (Amanda), Blake Haag (Tracy), Angela Sams ( Charles), Lori Morton (Keith); grandchildren Callum Thurston, Elliot Thurston, Eily Thurston, Xavier Thurston, Molly Haag, Stephen Studler, Daniel Sams, Jeffrey Sams, Brian Sams, Olivia Sams, Natalie Knepp, and Elizabeth Horton; 10 great grand children; and brother James Thurston (Barb). He is preceded by his parents and three grandchildren Angel, Conner, and Tinsley Thurston.

A Celebration of Life will be officiated by Ms. Yvonne Evans and will take place on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 4pm at The RSVP Community Building at East Side Park at 501 Burkhart Dr, Washington, IN 47501. Friends may call from 4:30-8pm following the service on Wednesday.
