Iona C. Potts
Iona C. Potts, 97, of Washington was called home at the end of a nice sunny day September 1, 2016. Iona was born July 6, 1919 in Martin County to the late Millard and Iva (Chattin) Collins. Iona married Orris Potts on February 4, 1939 in Montgomery, Indiana. He preceded her in death on January 8, 1996. Iona was the last in the family of ten siblings. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Blanch Arvin; eight brothers, Victor, Carl, Oral, Claude, Martin, Earl, and infant Charles; a nephew, Denver Arvin; a great niece, Kim Rogers Loyd, and a great nephew, Jim Collins. Iona was a homemaker, and enjoyed gardening and flowers. She was the oldest member of Truelove United Methodist Church of Alfordsville. Iona is survived by, two nieces, Wanda Lents, and Susie Rogers; Good friends, Joe and Lois Schnarr, LuAnn Hubbard, and Joyce Field, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2016 in Gill Funeral Home, with Pastor Marvin Arvin officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Reeve Township.
